Physical Therapy

Center Rehab’s team of licensed physical therapists work to relieve our patients’ discomfort and help them restore pain-free movement through tailored treatment plans. Each patient’s physical therapy plan is developed using special therapeutic techniques and exercises that focus on fixing the problem, not just relieving the symptoms.

Every patient works with only one therapist throughout the course of their therapy treatment which allows us to take a holistic approach to healing.  We treat the entire individual not just the injury or body part!  Center Rehab’s experienced physical therapists are equipped with the expertise and skills to get you on the path to healing and to identify any other physical limitations that may impact your path to recovery.

Who can benefit from physical therapy treatment?

Anyone experiencing discomfort or pain in their day-to-day functions at work or at play can find relief through physical therapy. If you’re recovering from a surgery, physical therapy can be crucial to improving mobility, balance and strength and easing pain. Physical therapy can speed up your healing process and help you return to your normal daily activities as soon as possible.

Do I need a doctor’s referral to see a physical therapist?

The state of Connecticut does not require a physician’s referral for evaluation and treatment by a physical therapist. And patients can choose the licensed physical therapist and practice that is the best match for them in terms of specialization, rapport and experience.  While your orthopedic or physician’s office may encourage the use of their physical therapists, do your research to ensure you’ll be seeing the same qualified, experienced therapist for every visit.

What types of treatments are used in physical therapy?

Many different treatment options exist for physical therapy patients. Your therapist will explain which therapeutic methods are recommended and what to expect from each treatment. From exercise, massage and ultrasound to electronic stimulation and taping, we use special restorative techniques, exercises and instruction to help solve your problem. If you play sports, we will use sports specific exercises to return you to the game. Most importantly, we will spend the time to teach you how to stay healthy and active to avoid re-injury.
